Ah, a little joke heading for any American Football lovers, of which I am not one. Convince me!
I have been gripped with wedding fever all week long! I was so excited about the marriage of Kate and Wills… and the wedding did not disappoint! It was such a beautiful event, with every detail carried out thoughtfully; from the Avenue of Trees inside Westminster Abbey (gorgeous) to the coaches at the end (the Australian stage coach was stunning)! Kate Middleton’s dress was so perfect for her- elegant and simple because, let’s face it, if you are as spectacular-looking as she is, there’s no need for fuss!
I thought the lace on her gown was especially beautiful, crafted to her measurements exactly, so I got a little lace-inspired again…

That’s right, step off Torrance Shipman! You will probably have seen these mega-lovely tissue paper pom-poms on every craft channel in the world, and they deserve the publicity because they are as lovely as they seem. They turn out like dahlias. My friend Bek has a scrumptious little daughter named Adiel Faith, who is having her very first birthday soon and will be having these pom-poms hanging around her as she shoves her little hands into her first cake! Do these right and they come out a treat. All images are from Martha Stewart and her instructions are here. Have a go!

I am on holidays until next Wednesday, resting up like I actually do anything to rest up from. I really hope my husband doesn’t read this post! Warrick, if you do happen to be reading, I’m just kidding about the not doing anything.
For everyone else, I’m serious, I don’t do anything.
See you next week!
Love Emma xoxo

A while back I posted on making your very own book clock. In the same vein, I’ve just come across a brilliant and simple clock design by Karlsson Clocks. The Karlsson Table Clock Book incorporates a lovely clock across the spines of three ‘books’. About $25 from here. Would look great shoved in amongst a bulging bookshelf!

A friend recently asked me to be the entertainment at their daughters mermaid-themed sixth birthday party. Fun times ahead! I have got all the awesome games under my belt ready to go, and the last thing I have to do is get my mermaid costume together. I have bought some shimmery material for a tail, a nude coloured top and some “modesty shells” for my chest, which I have painted purple and covered in glitter. I know, I know… more like “Look directly HERE. There is glitter to make them easier to find!”. I bought the craziest long, blonde wig to add to my collection. Collection? Yes. Warrick and I have spent the better part of our lives in costume, and we don’t even celebrate Halloween (it’s just not popular in Australia)!
Some examples (don’t mind our faces, we love pulling some truly ugly ones):
*One too many eighties-themed events…
*Jungle theme… (most girls came dressed in sexy outfits with animal ears. Not me. I came in a full–body catsuit. Not a pretty sight, but i got in loads of photos!)
*Beach… and a floral bra for W. We actually owned these sombreros long before the party. We wear them to the beach!
*Disney theme… I’m the poison apple from Snow White. Don’t ask.
*Every invite at this party had a different country they had to come as… we got given Sweden!
*My 20’s themed 21st… when we were still just buds back in the day!
*In ‘formal-wear’ for my birthday dinner with W’s family… we wanted a smarmy, fireplace “Days of Our Lives” type shot which was monumentally ruined in the best way by W’s ridiculous smile! Click on the photo to get a close-up of some truly sleazy, moustachioed face.
*And here are the best costumes we’ve worn so far! Yahoo!
We’ve been to so many more costumed events but this post has accidentally become quite photo-heavy… don’t want to burn your retinas out with our un-photogenic ways! And if you have any ideas for more mermaid-themed games, send them through! xx

Here are some lovely vases for your perusal! I am a major fan of fresh-cut flowers, but they do seem to be a bit of an expense if you want them regularly! My solution is usually Carnations because they are sturdy, colourful, beautiful flowers that can last for weeks and they are cheap, but my favourite flowers would have to be Peonies, Dahlias and Lotus flowers (anything with a million petals really) and Hydrangeas are gorgeous too! My favourite scents are from Frangipani’s and Jasmine flowers… so heavenly! What flowers do you love?
Simmetria Urn in Garnet by Have You Met Miss Jones $60
Sea Urchin Vases by Roost at Velocity $10
Lean On Me set by Anna Vezina $39
Vase de Printemps (Vase of Springtime) by Tsé & Tsé $245
White Koi Fish Vase at Burke Decor $114

My best friend is perhaps the funniest person in my world without her ever meaning to be. The amount of ridiculousness that comes out of her mouth when she is just trying to speak normally bodes well for me because I love me some free entertainment! Just two nights ago, we were out and about and we went past a church hall. BF told me animatedly that she used to have ‘Romper Stomper‘ in there. She had meant the kids playgroup was called “Romper Room”. How an innocent 4-year-old can suddenly become a vicious neo-nazi skinhead is magical. And trust me, this is regular scheduled viewing with her! Her fear of clowns, her love of ‘Werewolf Barmitzvah‘ and the rest of her insanity is why I love her.
Just as there is a reason she is my best pal, there are too many reasons why dogs are ‘mans best friend’… I just couldn’t type fast enough or have enough words in my vocab to describe how much I love dogs! Luckily for me, there are people out there designing some pretty amazing things to spoil our pups with.
For the discerning, elegant canine-owner…
