This Used To Be A Funhouse…

July 12, 2011 § 4 Comments

…and it still is! Waz and I used to live with some kids that were under government care (long story, but that’s for another time!) and it was a very difficult time for us. To make it easier, and to put a little fun and distraction into our days, we’d do silly little things around the house to cheer us up. While we were there, I drew a moustache on our ensuite mirror with my eyeliner… a really small imperial moustache! It used to perk us up, to get ready in the mornings and look somewhat like a sleazy magician! I was perusing some of Fred’s awesome products yet again and, of course, he has a brilliant version of some mirror fun with these decals.

Around $6 from here, or anywhere else you can google! Waz and I still write on our mirror, but sappy stuff I can’t write here! And with this post, I bid you farewell for the week as we are going on a little holiday down to my brothers country holiday home… 5 acres of loveliness and cows next door to boot! I’ll return with some photos and some great stories from last years holiday down there with our crazy friends!

Sayonara! xx

Oooooh I love rubber stamps! You could pay a mint for letter-press style stationery, or you could go ahead and invest in some really nice card, an inkpad, and a rather good stamp, like these darlings from Ink + Wit girl genius, Tara Hogan.

Bon Voyage Stamp, $18

Paris Je t'aime Stamp Set, $50

Observant Owl Natural Rubber Stamp, $22

C’mon, get stamp happy! And I mean it in every sense of the word 😉

Marky Mark…

Although I would love to pay homage to the Mark Wahlberg pants-dropping routine here, this post is for book-lovers and their little sidekick- bookmarks! For years I have used whatever scruffy rubbish I could find to mark my place in a book (scrap paper, tissues, band-aids, necklaces, bobby pins etc.), and I have decided it’s time to invest in an actual bookmark to make my reading experience more enjoyable and hygienic. Here are a few I’d love to squeeze between my pages… 😉

Liquid Bookmark $19.50 from Design For Use

Dual Function USB and Bookmark from IMM Living (check store listings for price)

Finger Print Book Mark $6.95 by Fred from Amazon

Fantasy Bookmarks $ 29 from Up To You Toronto

MSLK Designer 5 Interactive Bookmarks $15 from Felt & Wire

Or make your own Magnetic Photo Bookmarks with instructions from Curbly

Not Just For Cheerleaders…

That’s right, step off Torrance Shipman! You will probably have seen these mega-lovely tissue paper pom-poms on every craft channel in the world, and they deserve the publicity because they are as lovely as they seem. They turn out like dahlias. My friend Bek has a scrumptious little daughter named Adiel Faith, who is having her very first birthday soon and will be having these pom-poms hanging around her as she shoves her little hands into her first cake! Do these right and they come out a treat. All images are from Martha Stewart and her instructions are here. Have a go!

Oh Suck UK, you’re magical! I love this ‘Stampler‘ they are selling at the moment, a tidy little device that staples and simultaneously stamps on a smiley face for good measure. Teachers all over the world will be throwing up their hands in delight… now gold stars can become obsolete!

Little Drummer Boy…

For reasons I’d rather not go into due to my extreme annoyance at their existence, my husband has three drum kits in the house right now. He thinks he’s such a relaxed guy, but let me tell you, he is obsessive compulsive when it comes to anything to do with drumming. But to be fair, I’d rather that than an extreme sports nut with a beer belly! My husband is also the recipient of many, many drum-related gifts on his birthday and Christmas, which he loves (so keep ’em coming fam and friends!)

Here are a few that he has gotten recently… although definitely not as awesome as this guy!

Game On…

I can say, without a doubt, that Able and Game make my most favourite cards in the world. I love sifting through them and having a good laugh. I am also torn when it comes to giving them away… I want to share the love so much, but also selfishly keep it for myself in the top drawer of my desk! I especially appreciate the dry Aussie humour involving the local train station names and can’t wait for more of those (down the Hurstbridge line thanks!). Below are two designs I recently bought, and you should definitely take Able and Game up on their sale offers here.

Sensual fellow isn't he? You can have him for $4

Nothing says snazzy like a beer can belt and sleeveless tuxedo top! $4
